This is a poster idea for my idea of having the lyrics as tattoos
After talkin to my tutor in the seminar session it seems that script fonts are done to death and that i should stay away from them, back to the drawing board with the font, i have also asked people who have tattoos with lettering in to send me photos of them
My idea for the D&AD diesel brief is to turn the lyrics into tattoos. This idea came to me as man people who listen to the band that i have chosen as wel as some memebers of the band are into body art.
I have looked into tattoos that have lettering and i like the script font that is used, so i have come up with this style of text and hand drawn the lyrics in my chosen font
Found this website while reseaching for my the advanced com brief, the person picks lyrics from songs and creates a typographical repsonse to each one. the posters all follow the same style and grid format
Found this image of a timeline of rock music, in the artist’s description about it he says
“well, let’s see… starting from the left:
50s - an old-style microphone for recording stuff,
60s - a classic strat (<3),
60/70s - flower power,
70s/80s - rock on,
80s/90s - MTV,
90s - Kurt Cobain’s shotgun (oh really, Andy? is that honestly necessary? yes. it is.),
00s - Myspace, which has singlehandedly warped comedy, music, and people’s brains.”
The work is just a simple contionous line drawing that starts in the 50’s and ends in the 00’s
the work is simple but effective, even though all the images are very different and theres a shot gun in it, its flows easily

After reading the briefs and none of them really jumping out at me, i have re read them and decided that i wish to do the illustrate music which is a d&ad brief.
I going to look into the different genres of music before i pick a song and im going to try to stay away from just picking a song just because it is by one of my fav bands
